Terroir
Like all Michel Forgeron cognacs, this Cognac Hors d'Âge comes from the Grande Champagne region, the most prestigious of the Cognac production area.
Ageing
This Cognac Hors d'Âge is a blend of extra-aged cognacs, aged from 40 to over 50 years in French oak barrels in Michel Forgeron's cellars, to reach 50 degrees of alcohol by natural evaporation and without the addition of water.
Tasting
Visual examination:
This Hors d'Âge Cognac has a colour tinged with amber and fire with deep golden reflections.
Large persistent tears and a necklace of fine pearls form around the glass.
Olfactory examination:
The delicacy of the aromas appears from the very first moments. A first note of Violet is brought by the power of the sweet spice aromas: Liquorice, Gingerbread, candied cinnamon orange. All this in a Sandalwood box.
The Eau-de-Vie gradually blossoms towards the balsamic scent of Armenian paper and the sweetness of a smoky Cocoa.
Taste examination:
Powerful, elegant, almost spicy.
Exceptional fullness emerges in a simple tear.
Its length, the persistence of its aromas on the taste buds prolong the pleasure of tasting in a velvety and delicate rancio.
