The making of Pineau des Charentes follows a Charente tradition handed down from generation to generation. It all begins with the grape harvest, when the fruit is still rich in natural sugar and is pressed straight away to extract the must.

This fresh must is then fortified with Michel Forgeron Cognac, an eau-de-vie from our own distillery. This meeting of fruit and spirit stops fermentation and preserves all the freshness and natural sugar of the grape.

The resulting vin de liqueur is placed in oak casks in our cellars in Segonzac, where it ages patiently for several years. This time in the cask gives it roundness, colour and aromas of candied fruit, spices and vanilla.

Each blend is then carefully made by our house, to offer a Pineau des Charentes true to the demand for quality that has driven the Forgeron family since 1977.
